I do have to say something about Rocky Mountain ATV.
When I ordered on Thursday at 1:36pm, My order was on its way at 5:48pm the same day !
Tires and tubes ! Couldn't believe it !!!
They showed up here on Saturday from Utah real quick.

So if you need tires fast, think of them

Rick - the Tusk DSport tires (in my post above) are virtual clones of the the D606 and run about $110-120 for a set. Shipping free from Amazon or Rocky Mountain ATV. I have a set on my DR650 and absolutely love them.
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

I'm a big fan of the Shinko SR241's. I did alot of single track and pavement on a CT2 a few years ago, 2 full years on a rear SR241 3.50X18 with absolutely no problems, great traction and sticky on pavement. Like oils, evetyone has their favorites when it comes to tires

Not a lot of experience with this but put a set of Pirelli m21’s on my dt3. Was worried about road worthiness but they worked really well. Don’t ride that hard in the dirt so won’t comment except that they were a huge upgrade over stock.

Chicken and Waffles on TTalk does a great review of them.

Anybody thought to ask Z34M if he want the original look like Apex said, or more aggresive tires for Dirt,
like we are talking about ?
Lots of info here to process for the guy.

Rick, he has the stock-type now and was looking for knobbies.

I've done my own "non-scientific" tire test near my house where there's a field with terrain ranging from rocky to hard pack (almost like pavement) to sandy to super soft sand.

Stock "trials" tread works pretty good until you hit the soft stuff.  Then the knobbies absolutely are king in my book.

I've tested my DT175 (twin shock), DT175 (monoshock), TS400, and XT250 with the Shinko 241 block pattern or MT43 Pirelli block pattern against the Kenda Trakmaster rear knobby and  MT21 Pirelli front knobby.

When I ride slow in the soft stuff, I will almost always dump the bike repeatedly...  except with the knobbies.  It's a night and day difference.  (I wish I could say it was my riding skills but it really is the tires)

When I got my first recent DT175(monoshock) a few years ago, people were ranting on other forums about the Shinko 244 (golden boy) which is an IRC GP1 pattern clone...  I hadn't ridden in many years so I thought my falling off was just me...  Then I put knobbies on the DT175 and wow! what a difference!!!

In my experience the 244's were the worst off road....  stock block pattern was better...  and DOT knobbies the best.

P.S.  My original DT50's have the IRC GP-1 tires as they were original equipment...  they work good on that bike.  Not nearly as squirrelly as my DT175 was with that pattern tire...

But on my "Super DT50" I chose to use Kenda knobbies... That thing is ridiculously quick and needs all the traction it can get.

Oh, and yes...  I have tested all those bikes back-to-back with the block tread vs. knobbies...  Even threw the MT43's on my 76-1/2 Husky 250CR...  Husky was actually about the same with the MT43 or knobbies...  it's a very easy and stable bike to ride.

But for the enduros, including the XT250, knobbies work the best for me.

I have MT21's on my '78 Suzuki SP370 and they are great. They are pretty old but they have worn very well. I will get another set.
