Cylinder Head Anti Vibration Rubber was created by steam_biker

Can anyone help me find the rubbers that go between the cylinder head fins on my DT3?
I don't even know what they are called.
When I got the bike, there were broken fins, I had them repaired,  I don't want them to break again.

Hello,
They are officially called Absorbers, but people call them fin dampers, cylinder dampers, cylinder rubbers etc. The DT3 one should have four round absorbers (OEM number 214-11161-00), but these are no longer on the market. If someone in the team has dimensions, we could get them reproduced or check them against the 2A6 & 579 versions that we just got in stock.

We also have these sumorubber.com/521-11161-01-cylinder-head-absorber They are compatible with DT100, but again, without testing, I can't say if they would fit DT3 cylinder.

Hi Jackie,
Thanks for getting back to me about the rubbers.
I put the part number in to Ebay and found some. Unfortunately the postage was extortionate as I live in Scotland. I can't believe how much they wanted as the parts are small and light. One seller has two of them but double the postage!
Would it be worth your while to buy one to copy it? Could you sell them on here?

Hello,
I bought one from the US seller. The average time for delivery is about a month, so once it arrives, I can compare it to the dampers we have already and let you know. :)
On the image it looks just like a shorter version of the 2A6 damper, so fingers crossed, we might have a solution.

Hi Jackie,
That's great you bought a damper, the parts for the DT3 are hard to get and expensive, especially in Scotland, they were never officially sold here.
Just let me know when you check it out .
Thanks again for your help.
Regards, Alistair.

I've been looking for some of these for my 400, some guys are selling ones for the RD's, and there in India!
I'm amazed nobody has started reproducing these, my son in law does a lot of 3D printing so I'm going to ask him if he can reproduce them in a similar material.

The reason for the RD ones in India is because a version of the RD350 was produced there for many years after Yamaha stopped making them... Radjoot was the name of the company if I remember right.  Lots of stuff available but not always the best quality.

If you are over in the UK/Scotland part of the world, maybe try www.yambits.co.uk/?  They sell parts for the RD series, so posting to you over there may not be as much. I have purchased parts for a 250 from them a few years back.

I see also www.motoward.co.uk/ advertises Yamaha parts in 'Classic Mechanics' ( a persoanl favorite magazine!)

HVC sells dampers as a set, intended again the for RD (my 400 has them, a string of 5 or 6 strung together jammed into the side of the cylinder). If 100% stock appearance was not critical one could get a set and cut them apart to suit.

hvccycle.net/yamaha-rd-r5-cylinder-fin-a...ers-521-11162-01-00/

That last is a bit pricey.

We have the RD cylinder dampers in stock already. Here is a link for the full kit, but you can get the small ones in set of 10 or the larger ones in set of 4 separately as well.

sumorubber.com/1a0-11162-02-4pc-cylinder-head-absorbers

We also stock the 1973-75 Rd250 & RD350 cylinder dampers as well as the RD125, RD200 ones. If you need any others, just let me know, we can look into getting other types reproduced.

Jackie, it looks like you have a pretty good stock of bits over there!! Did not realize you were a supplier, didn't mean to step all over you.
When you list a Yamaha part numer, are those OEM, or reproductions? I got some chain pullers for an RD a few years bak that had good chrome, but were too thick to use.
