Back to the original heading - Battery Box.

Since my 3D printer arrived I have modelled various parts for my current resto bikes.

Turning my hand to the battery box I created a design based on the battery i will be using. My first test print proved it fits in the space but my mounting tabs are off so I will modify these and reprint later.

The only real downside is that the print time is over 8 hours

Attached an image of the prototype model.

Thanks

I was surprised how relatively simple it was, but then again I do have a CAD background albeit 2D schematics.
Using Fusion 360 (free for personal/student use) and the basic online tutorials I eventually worked it out.

I remember awhile back reading about a shop teacher who was using 3-D printing to make a Lamborgini from scratch. That sounded far-fetched but I know folks are printing human limbs now too.

There's a chap on another forum here in the UK who's started 3D printing some of the hard to find RD parts. I think he'll be looking at tank badges soon, but those, of course, will need painting after manufacture.

It’s not the ideal solution for the rivet counters, but it’s a way to get things working. I have no idea on the longevity of printed parts especially under vibration. I would not expect the finish straight off the average filament printer to pass examination for highly visible parts like tank and panel badges. But then I may not be getting the best finish.
The second battery box was scheduled to take 12 hours to print at average quality. But I have been suffering with bed adhesion problems which forced me to terminate the print after 5 hours when it began twisting on the bed.
I have a solution on its way.
