Oh snap. Sure is candy orange. I tried IMGUR. At first it was great. Then ads started popping up. Been great on postimage once you acclimate to their system initially. Easy peasy. Download fresh pictures and copy/paste to forum under 1 minute. Existing pictures, ad 10 seconds. Thanks for the reply. CB

Final bike,

After going thru some testing and riding the bike in the last 3 to 4 weeks i ended up making a few changes. When i do restorations i usually only use NOS or new OEM Yamaha parts when possible. Yes there more expensive but you won't have issues if you install them correctly. In this particular build i was going to see if i could save some money so the price of the bike didn't get to high for the new owner. They didn't want a full restored bike knowing how costly it would be and they plan to ride this one...So i used some well known aftermarket parts where i thought it wouldn't hurt or cause a problem.
This turned out to be a mistake.
I used K&S fork seals when i rebuilt the forks. Well, They started leaking immediately! Fork legs have new hard chrome so i knew that wasn't an issue. I measured them before and after and they were spot on. The fork legs were nice and tight with no excessive movement so that wasn't an issue. So i ended up buying NOS Yamaha fork seals and replacing them out. Thankfully these are easy to do with the chrome fork nuts and steel lower legs. Took about a hour. No more leaks. Lesson learned!

2nd, I rebuilt the oil pump but i couldn't find the small seal that goes on the shaft inside the pump at that time. I did end up finding all the seals and gaskets afterwards, all Yamaha parts in sealed original bags from Singapore so i had to wait a little over 2 weeks to receive them. It was a great deal with free shipping. So i re-did the oil pump and made it right. All new seals and gaskets and of coarse both oil lines and 1 new banjo pipe fitting had to be replaced. It had a hairline crack in it. We don't want any oil leaks.

3rd, I ended up taking the cylinder back off and having it bored 1st over. Don't think for a second just because the piston clearance is within specs that all will be fine. I even used a stock NOS 69.98 piston and NOS rings with a good looking stock bore when i put the cylinder back on. New stock ring gaps were within factory specs. Piston to cylinder clearance at the bottom were within factory spec's. However if the cylinder is not perfectly square from top to bottom your going to have excessive piston noise or slap. Yes I did measure the cylinder in 6 spots and didn't see a big variation or at least not enough to cause an issue? Well i was wrong. The engine sounded great at idle but when you rev the engine and close the throttle or when riding the bike and letting off the throttle, there was piston slap. 99% percent of people thinks this piston noise is normal. It's not!  Yes the engine ran great, yes the engine had no excessive noise at idle or even with a slight rev up.

Fresh 1st over bore job took care of all this. I installed a NOS MC brand non-Keystone piston & ring set up. Engine sounds great, runs great and i have 9 miles on it so far. Starts 1st or 2nd kick cold 1st kick warm. Choke doesn't need to be on long. Carb is jetted perfect with stock jetting. Bike is now complete and i am happy with the end results. Everything else working great and the bike rides like new.

I have said this 4 times now since 2018 but this should be my last build or restoration. Maybe i can start enjoying retirement now, if there such a thing!

Last picture of the 69 DT1 completed and new piston and bore.

I agree RT325, But now the 69 has become my favorite badge bike. It used to be the 1970 model. Love the colors with the silver painted engine. So clean looking.  Don't have to worry about keeping the engine cases polished.

Thanks for the comments!

Thanks Sneezles61,

It's joining a very good group of DT1's. New owner purchased all 3 of these from me too. They now own a full line up of 250 badge bikes. 68 thru 71. I will miss all of them!
