Okay then ,things are starting to take shape now.
Engine is in the frame. Fins removed to facilitate the pipe and the pipe mounting bracket removed and a new one grafted on at the right place so the pipe fits without waggling around. Wiring is in place and i have filled the large dents in the tank and oil tank ,
I need to make a tail light bracket ,fit a seal to the generator side crank case, design an air box ,get a switch for the lights and a couple of LED bulbs. Oh yes, that multi shaped gear selector pedal has to be substituted too.
I also need to do some more cleaning on the hubs and of course paint it.

Well it's getting ever nearer. The exhaust is mounted, i have sealed the oil injector port up properly as the bike had no pump fitted and is running pre mix.
The wiring is in place and connected up for the horn, rear light and ignition system. The tanks are filled out and ready for primer tomorrow. I'm mounting a chain tensioner too. I have ordered some 40mm box section to make the bracket . I will have to make some mounts for the chain guard to as they have been removed, why i don't know.
I fired some fuel in and after a few kicks ,it burst into life. and settled at idle off the choke.
The exhaust is loud as they come.
I have bought some MX 175  footrests and will be grafting those on too.
I have decided to go with 175 MX style head light mounts and an AT1 headlamp assembly.
When i'm back at work next week,  i'm going to fab a headlamp stone guard up from stainless with the tig welder.
Ebayed  an old FS1E tail light mount and i'm going to chop it up and reshape it to take the TY rear light.
For the air box i might use an old round biscuit tin and graft some adapter on it then mount it sideways. Not sure yet .

So last night , I dropped the AT headlamp assembly into the tub of Evaporust. Today I removed it and give it a rinse in hot soapy water. Mint. Cleaned the reflector up a treat . Rubbed the Shell down for some undercoat.
Finished rubbing the tanks down and etch primed them. Spray primed the headlamp bowl ready for paint . Now looking at making an air filter box.

Here's a little update to how it's looking.

That's a picture of the heaviest motorcycle tank in the enduro world.
There's that much filler in it . Almost as much as in Chers ( Sony & Cher ) boobs ,nose , cheeks and lips..

And that's why.

Today i cleaned the front forks out and replaced the oil.
Cleaned the brakes out front and rear and cleaned the brake plates and hubs.
Cleaned the torque arm up.
I tried to true the front wheel up a bit, but most of  the spokes are seized solid.
Back ones moved and that's done.
Painted the headlamp bowl and finished priming the tanks.
The paint has a candy finish to it which i tried to capture in the pic bellow.

Looking more like it now. Just waiting for bits to arrive.

Going to have to have a look at the padding in the seat, looks a bit naff.

Thanks men. It is gradually taking shape.
Today i have had allot on as it's back to work for two weeks.
I have put the first two coats of black on for the stripe. I have experimented with the pearl paint. I tried it over aluminium engine paint and flat white. The effect of the engine aluminium is coarse so the substrate surface was rough. It looked good but more like a rain cloud colour with the pearl over it. So i tried it over flat white gloss. The finish is more refined but harder to see the pearl effect. The head lamp is starting to come glossier as the chemicals evaporate and the paint flattens down. It looks much better than yesterday . There's flecks of blue gold and silver in it and when the light catches it it looks great. So i'm going with flat white gloss as the base coat over the black then three coats of that candy pearl white.
The exhaust is finally fitted along with the rear mudguard supports. No more white tie wraps. I like the rack as i'm not a one for straps for pulling the bike out when it's bogged down. Nowt like something proper to get a grip of.. I got some nice stainless spacers to pack the pipe bracket out proper. Fits as snug as a bug in a rug. I'll wazz a picture on in a bit.
Still waiting for stuff. Bloody slower than a Mexican village delivery these days.

I'm sat in the hotel waiting for my checkin so I'll tell you my further plans for the wee bike. I have bought a CT3 engine. The Clymer manual sheds some light on the changes Yamaha made to some of the gears in the gearbox to make them stronger.
Also the seven port barrel and the Reed valve lends them self  to tuning more readily than the five port. I looked in the specs and the CT2/3 produces half a brake horse power more than the CT1. More torque too. More shove at the bottom end. I got the box section this morning. When I get home I'm making a chain tensioner bracket and mounting a 175 MX tensioner. Going to fit some Borriani alloy rims too. I have a MX rod kit to put in it and going to have some porting done. Nothing to extreme. I just want to exploit more bottom end and mid range.
I am going to have to quieting it down a bit.
All in good time.
