I wish the GYT kits were still available. I could use most of the parts!

Yeah me too. Great times those--if ya could afford the bits.

It pays to have friends with keen eyes. The seller was parting out an enduro motor and didn’t know someone had put an MX head on it. Haven’t seen any GYT kit parts in some time and with todays prices you could pay as much as the bike was new for just a few small pieces. Better to invest in some modern porting and head work..

Yea, it will be a small miracle if I ever come across a stock decent DT1MX air box.  I will probably just improvise something from scratch for an airbox/filter.  What is on the bike now is clearly home made, possibly so they could squeeze in the battery.

This is my DT1C MX.  I bought a truck load of parts for $125.  I knew it had a MX head when I bought it, but when I got home I realized it was a matching numbers MX.

Just an update.

I received the title in my state.  I went the Vermont route and it worked fine, my first time.  Thanks to everyone who has posted on how to do that, very helpful!

Small victory today, I finished the carb.

Been looking for an air box and I found this DT1C 'parts bike' with a GYT kit installed:

It is rough but mostly there.  Not stuck, matching numbers.  I can't bear to part it out, so I guess this is my next project.  I think I am better at finding projects than completing them.  Life is about the journey, not the destination?

Interesting what turns up. Something very attractive about the DT1 ( and it's derivatives) full stop.
Interesting to see all those bits too. Nice find.
Going back to how the bores described in the manual. Don't forget, chrome (Chromium) is an alloy , a substance composed of two or more metals or of a metal and a nonmetal intimately united usually by being fused together and dissolving in each other when molten also the state of union of the components.
I.E Chromoly steel ,chromium (24) and molybdenum (42 ) . Chromium is very hard and corrosion resistant . Perfect for a cylinder when combined with something to take away high temperature.
That's why i think they describe it as an alloy.
Sorry, the science and electroplating bit kicked in there.

Anyone have an original paint 1970 DT1 tank in brilliant red ? Even if it is a scratch and dent special? Since at this point I am building a rider, it doesn't need to be perfect!

Thanks for checking!
