Requesting help for a 1969 Yamaha AT-1 was created by Dylan_at1
Hello! I am currently tearing down my 69 AT-1 engine in order to restore it, replace bearings, seals etc. Right now I am attempting to remove the right side crank case cover (the one that holds the oil and has the transmission). I have removed all 6 exterior bolts, the oil pump, and the bolt behind the oil pump. Now with all this removed, the case will not budge. Have I removed all the necessary fasteners to remove this part of the engine? If so, does anyone have any advice on how to remove it? I've just been tapping it with a rubber mallet to try and loosen it. The only thing I can think is the rpm plug, maybe that needs to be removed??
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!! This is my first bike, no needless to say I've never done this before. Let me know if you need any more pictures,

There should be 7 screws that’s what my At1 has I just looked also you can post pictures via 3rd party ie Imgur, google photos etc

Shows 6x #15 plus 1x #16 which is what you said--6 plus one behind the oil pump which is #16. Pump doesn't need to come off as can get at #16 but no worries. So needs a good pump with a block of wooid & a steel hammer. It'll be stuck on dowels #11 one at eack en about half height of the cover. Gasket will probably be the main culprit, just stuck. Just re-thinking, if you hasd a long 6mm screw & screwed it into the oil pump cover threaded holes, don't use the front one but go safe to maybe top one as more meat around it i think, Then come up with a plan like sit a pair of pliers up to it & get behind then to hit it. I have a 6mm slide hammer that comes in handy for things like that.The other end you're a bit limited unless you can hook something in the oil filler hole to pull or tap behind. Likely if you tap all around the cover with a block of wood & a good hammer it'll crack free from the gasket.

I was just looking at an ebay pic of the cover so now think slide hammering from the front pump cover thread would be best. Probably as strong there as the other two holes & is in line with the dowel. Just get it square on when tapping against pliers behind the screw head.
