Rt1 1970 timing information only was created by Tinker man

Evening.

for once I am just sharing rather than asking for help.   Whilst looking for torque settings for the clutch nut and primary gear nut I came across this pdf.

davestestsandarticles.weebly.com/uploads...8-73_rt-dt-whole.pdf

didnt answer my questions but an interesting section on timing.  I have heard and seen 2.9 and 2.5 mm BTDC.

but this pdf says RT1-F  1.9 +0.2 -0.5 mm BTDC with governor wedged open.

this probably isn’t news to you all but it is to me.  Have people seen and used these settings?

anyway just thought I would share and hope not wasted your time.

many thanks, ian

I love taking stuff to bits - putting back together is another thing altogether.

Good catch!  My take is 1.9 is a typo in that doc.  Yamaha and aftermarket literature unfortunately has many typos.

Note that the actual timing procedure explanation in that same doc uses the "RT1-F" as the example and states 2.9mm there.
