RT2, popped a left crank seal? was created by Gr8uncleal
Bike won't start and fresh oil sitting in the inside of the magneto cover - symptoms of a popped crank seal?
On a more positive note, finally got my DT360A running, 6 years or so after I bought it!

Those were the exact symptoms on my DT175C for the bad crank seal. Mine didn’t pop out, but it was missing about half of the lip!
Glad to hear you got your DT360A running. They are great bikes.

Na, seal on those never pop out inlike later models & never leak bad enough to stop it running. Might just have a belly full of fuel so push it around with plug out & ign Off. How long since last run?.

Hope you get it figured out Al, I'm thinking my newly acquired CT2 has a bad seal on stator side too, just ordered one today.

"How long since last run?"
Started and ran at my mechanics after he'd set the timing, but it had probably sat for years before that.
Then sat for a few months in my garage before I got my arse in gear. It then started quite easily and I rode it for 50 or so yards. After that, it didn't want to know.
Pretty sure there shouldn't be oil in there!
Thanks for the replies.

Put a clean plug in Uncle. I'm gonna look more stupid than ever if ya find a popped seal.

Maybe jumping the gun a bit here, but any recommendations, or ones to avoid, for an aftermarket replacement. Also, any tips on fitting.
Thanks.
Thanks.

These sets show up on ebay every once in a while and have OEM brand quality crank seals... the whole set is usually around $35 USD.

Oil in the ignition cavity probably means you need a seal. Not too likely seal came out as Yamaha got smart and designed the stator plate to be close enough to do double duty as a seal retainer.

Thanks Mark.
Is that seal leaking an obvious cause of my non starting issue?

Take this for what it's worth but I think it unless it was really blown out it would still start but like mine wont idle under 2K RPM, which has me thinking it's the seal on stator side. But again I'd wait for Marks comment before taking my thought into consideration
