Can you tell me how the worm comes off the assembly? I cannot see how it comes away easily and I haven't wanted to force or break it. I would certainly consider getting the KDI brass one but haven't gone for it yet as I wasn't clear how to remove the plastic one.

Mine was broken in two places so getting it off was easy, sorry that's of no help!

Ha! no. Was the brass one easy to get back on? Did it screw on? Push on? or what form of attachment did it need? Maybe this info will help me figure out how to remove the plastic one? (I guess I could just try to break it?)

Yes. I will get the brass one if I can figure out how to remove the plastic one. Any advice?

If it's not broken, why are you looking to change it?

That was my thought too Alan. If it's not broken don't fix it!

Agree with the above posts. If the gear isn't cracked, then
I doubt it has moved on the splines. As far as removing one,
a Dremel tool with a rotary file would do the job, just be
careful of getting into the splines. I pushed mine together in
my bench vise when I put the bronze gear on.

I'm a little behind the barrage of responses here...I can comment on the spring....picture 2 is it. My experience with replacing that spring is you have to pop the pin out where it attaches and then tap it back in. That pin comes out by prying it straight out. The pins are replaceable too if needed but you shouldn't need to replace it. Good luck.

Ok, thank you for all of the comments. I agree that it is not sensible to replace something that is not broken and I can't see any breaks in the plastic gear. However it does not feel like I can get the assembly to the right starting point. It's like the clutch cable is too long to pull the actuator (it is needing to be adjusted at the lever end all the way out). I think it is the original cable and a replacement that I have seems the same length. With either cable when I put the bike back together and adjust the screw and locking nut to the 1/4 out from tension point as per the manual instructions the first pull on the lever feels like it engages the clutch. When I let the lever out however there is not a lot of tension pulling the lever back to it's start position and when I go to pull it again there is a huge amount of free play in the lever (and no sense that it is pulling the clutch in). I am really at a loss to know how I have got myself in this pickle. Any more ideas?
