RT2 Clutch cable adjustment was created by MK19
Hi, I hope I can attach pictures from my 72 RT2 left sided sprocket cover. The Clutch push lever assembly screws on to the side cover anticlockwise but I cannot seem to get It in a position that makes it easy to reconnect the return spring, connect the new clutch cable and refit the sprocket cover. Please can you look at the images and tell me which looks correct?
In each image the push lever assembly is screwed all the way in tight ( it can only move clockwise)
Image 2 looks the most likely to me and image 3 is clearly ridiculous.
Any advice appreciated.

Two is the closest. Still running the plastic gear on it?

My guess is the plastic worm has split & its moved within. Tis quite a long way from right--in obviously the correct starting point. Take it out & look for splitting. I'm using an RD400 4 start assembly [have to modify & insert the complete unit]. Bit of a fiddle without good gear [that i don't have]. Others may have pics & instructions.

Here's a link from long ago & there will be more on the site if you search for actuator mods etc.

New bronze gear from KDI is the ticket to fix the actuator, IMHO. D

Exactly, that's what I used on my DT2 and works perfectly! It was not easy to get it in but used a friends vise, did a little at a time and made sure everything was square. Also and very important, make note of the orientation of the plastic gear, I marked mine with a black sharpy so I knew exactly how the new brass piece should be oriented.

If the plastic as moved on the splines, marking it won't help. I placed the gear
in the case and then lined it up with the housing and then marked it. I also
burnished the gear on my wire wheel to take off the sharp edges to get it the case.

I wonder if popping the new bronze one in a freezer overnight will help with fitment?
