Found this thread with some discussion about a shim that isn't shown on all parts diagrams

Thanks. Unavailable or out of stock everywhere.

Can get a complete rear wheel/tire from Ebay for cheaper might end up doing that. Pulling the wheel today after work and will inspect closer

They flog out bad in the sprocket carrier & hub where it moves. The bigger the sprocket the worse it looks although it not worse, just looks that way. No easy fix but my chain has never come off--yet. Someone should invent a large needle bearing modification. Speedy sleeve over the hub after skimming it to size to get rid of the step & the wear. Then machine carrier to take a bearing. I'm full of ideas--now someone go do it haha.

Somewhere in my toolbox - I have rear hub shims. I put them on my AT1-C in 2012. A new snap ring might help but it’s the shims that take the side to side wobble out. I don’t know the part number.. it might be on the package. It’s not the rubber damper.

Pop off the rear snap ring.
Drop in one shim …
The same internal size as the snap ring.
Pop the snap ring back on ..
Most of the problem is gone.

Great tip Asco!

Shim part number is 156-11563-00  62mm x 52mm x 0.3mm

Still available from Yamaha for a couple bucks a piece.  Might find better deal on ebay but probably will pay more there.

Might even fit the bigger bikes?

Actually missed post from BHS driller where he found old thread mentioning shim.  Great search skills!

It was never an included part...  it was marked  "U.R."  which means "use as required" and seemed to be an afterthought drawn in later on some parts diagrams.

The main culprit may be wear inside the hub so not sure shim will solve issue completely but certainly worth a try.

There's a bit of a danger in shimming it sideways too much to get rid of the play because due to excessive wear on the hub & carrier it's constantly trying to twist. So all the load goes on the circlip. Probably not worth starting an agument over as a 175 with a road going sprocket isn't going to come to grief. A 360 with a big rear sprocket putting max twist on things through a rough forest might be a different story. Just sayin--that's all folks. But wait there's more--forgotten what it was haha. Just changed two tires on my quad yesterday & both flat this morning--rusty rim problem. Happy days.

This issue should be the same, as in this thread.
yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/forums/gene...-sprocket-hub#150964
The shim will not work for long (guess, why i know this), As RT 325 wrote, the pressure onto the circlip will be larger and let the seat of the circlip wear as well.
The problem simply is the construction. See picture : when the sprocket is new, the seat is cylindric (blue). Due to the gap between hub and sprocket hub, there is some wear in between. Means every wheel rotation, slowly the OEM-created play wears the cylinder into a cone (red lines). Both parts are affected.

I found my way to eliminate the play by producing a bushing. for the hub and turning the sprocket hub back to a cylinder by my lathe. Not an easy repair...
