Everything seems to be working correctly now, well except I need to get a new flasher since the old one isn't working, it clicks when you put the signal on but they just stay lit.  I put insurance on it today and will be visiting DMV tomorrow to register and start enjoying

Is it possible the flasher bulbs don't match the relay. Wattage needs to be in the ball park for it to trip.

That's a good point, I'm using the bulbs that came with the aftermarket signals.  When you apply the turn signal you can hear the flasher click once, if that means anything...

RT325 is likely correct from what you've said...  you probably have incorrect 12v bulbs in the lights which won't load the OEM flasher unit enough to work.

Couldn't hurt to check and getting a more modern 6v two wire flasher unit is not a bad idea either.

Good call on the bulb voltage, the rear bulbs are indeed 12v but the fronts are 6v.  I was wondering why the rear was so much more dim than the fronts.  I'm learning

try putting two 6v bulbs on one side of bike and see if that side flashes...  that will tell you if flasher will work.

You guys are dead on and is why I like this forum so much.  I installed 6v bulbs and what do ya know, I have turn signals now that actually blink

Went to DMV, registered the bike and took it for a 20 mile ride.  I found out I do need a new oil tank as it's leaking, when I cleaned it up I thought I saw some cracks in it so I'll be on the hunt for a replacement...

Thanks to all for the help!
