I suppose it could get hot but I was going to put some sort of insulator between the bulb and the plastic. I think there are certain type of rubber that can handle heat pretty well. I’m doing a second copy for the CT which is being ridden regularly. Better chance to test it out.

and yes, Rush was the inspiration. Digging on the new band “Greta Van Fleet” Reminds me of Rush in some ways.

Ok, hope you’re all not tired of this post topic but I have a final update on the headlight bracket I designed. I went to the hardware store for some additional springs and noticed the stove burner drip pans. They’re aluminum so easy to snip and have the center hole already cut. Only about $4 and another $4 for the springs. Maybe this will help someone else. Cheers!

Hey ADGUY, I like it!  What size springs did you get?

The package is SP-9600 called handyman springs. They measure 1/4x1.5x .35 or 6mm x38mm x.9 mm. Package says they have a spring load of 8.46lbs or 3.8 kilos. I had to cut them down to about 1” to get spring pressure. If you decide to make a bracket know I didn’t use the original swivel holes used for up and down adjustment but instead drilled a small (1/8”) hole right at the bend where the swivels connect to the rim. Doing this provides the right amount of downward pressure on the bulb.

Very creative….

I’d rather just use the “w” spring clips designed for the job.

I would too but would love to know how they will work with an outer rim and no inner bracket. As far as I can tell the inner edge of the rim fits over the bucket edge. Nothing to fit the w clips into but perhaps there is a replacement inner bracket still available.

There is no inner bracket.

Center of clip presses on sealed beam and ends hook under lip on stock rim.

I'll try to attach a picture from one of the other threads on this topic...  I've installed 5 3/4 lights in at least half a dozen bikes with the same rim as the DT2 so I know it works...  a little fiddly to figure out the first time and definitely wear safety glasses.
