RT3's Only was created by RT3Mike

Does anyone know if the '73 RT3 came with:
1. Blinkers or were they an option.
2. Only one type of rear shock - the adjustable one's.

My bike does not have blinkers. I purchased my bike from the original owner (so he says) and he said blinkers were an option in '73 because they were not yet mandatory on motorcycles until '74.

He also said the rear shocks are the original shocks, but mine are not adjustable and don't look like those I see in most original photographs.

This being said, does anybody have an extra set of front and rear blinkers and/or rear shocks laying around. HAR!

Thanks  Mike

Defo had blinkers down here in nz. & also had the adjustable shocks. Not talking the reservoir shocks from "74 just the chrome usual spring adjustables. Had blinkers "flashers" before that too.

That's what I was afraid of.... I've been douped.  Back to my second set of questions... does anybody happen to have a set of blinkers/flashers laying around as well as correct rear shocks?

Turn signals came stock on US bikes in 1971.
Shocks were adjustable.

I have these on 2 of my RT3 regular riders.

Turn signals pop up on eBay. Nice originals are expensive and often misidentified as to what they fit. There are some low cost repops that look pretty good.

1971DT250 - Great tip.   Did you buy the shocks from the same seller you just sent me?
I am watching ebay for flashers,  Nothing very good right now.  I have seen the repops, but they are orange lenses front and rear.  I am yet to see the repops with the rubber bushings. and some of the mounting brackets dont look correct.  Please let me know if you know of any.

Yes, good price and nice quality. They are a little longer than stock and make the bike sit up a little higher,

Also the spring diameter is a little wider and comes close to the exhaust but doesn't cause a problem.

Awesome!  I need my bike to sit a little higher so that is perfect.  I just ordered a set.  Great tip! Thanks so much... Still on the hunt for blinkers/flashers.

Some states could have different laws but turn signal weren't Federally mandated in the USA on a motorcycle manufactured before January 1st 1973.

Yes, your bike came with them but "technically" not required if manufacture date is in 1972...  and many are...  look at the sticker on the steering head.

It's kind of a grey area in some places if the motorcycle came with them...  check your state law.

I did double check -Jan 1,1973 is correct here in CA. I went and looked at the sticker head, but it is partially rubbed off and right were the date would be, it is completely erased.  Is there a way to check by the VIN?  Interestingly enough my vin begins with DT1.  Maybe that is correct, IDK.
