CT1 175 wiring help! was created by JRunk31
Hello friends. I have a 1971 CT1-C 175. I’ve restored it over the last few years and it runs fine ‘but’ now I’ve decided to get the lights working.
New battery, new rectifier. New 6V led headlight on order (replaced the sealed unit). New led flasher relay (only for rear with 6V led strip) but herein lies my problem.
I believe the flasher relay attaches to the back of the battery box, but mine doesn't have one or any of the wires left over to replace it. All of the flashers were removed when I got it (35 year garage find). Also the horn was removed.
I need help finding a good wiring diagram to see if the previous owner (deceased now) removed the wires from the harness to the original flasher relay location because they aren’t there anymore and I can’t imagine the original harness was wrapped in black electrical tape. However, the tail light wires (5) remain.
A lot of the wires in the headlight bucket have been unplugged also and not sure where they should connect to other than signal lights.
Please help with light wiring advice!

Welcome from NZ. I shouldn't start guessing so don't take my comments as correct until someone confirms or puts me right--but, By memory there's should be a light brown DC in to power the relay then a light brown & white heading away from the relay to the flasher switch for left-right. The Dark brown for left flasher & dark green for the right. That'll get ya started. I worked on these when new where I worked. Im lucky if I can remember yesterday sometimes. But can remember 50 years ago better haha.

Original flasher relay was mounted on the frame below the tank, more or less "underneath" the ignition coil - there should be a square lug, with a M6 thread in it. The Brown and brown/white wires should exit the main loom in this vicinity.
Dark brown wires for left side, dark green for right. In the headlight bucket, there should be triple female bullet connectors in these colours, and these take the males from the front flashers, left switch and warning light in the tacho.

Yes, brown and brown with white stripe under fuel tank is for flasher. Many wiring diagrams in the Manuals in the Tech Library. The early ones have legends for the colors and can be very helpful. Yamaha kept wire color and use relationships the same for many years.

Your bike is a mixture of AC power and DC power.
The turn signals are DC and the flasher indicator in the tach won't work with unmodified LEDs.
Horn is DC.
Brake light is DC.
Headlight power is AC.
Instrument lights are AC
Depending on the year, the tail running light is AC.
If you don't understand the difference between AC and DC voltage (and how it will affect your bike) Google them for an explanation.

Here's how on my CT1-C I replaced my standard bulbs with LED, it might help.
Good luck with it.

I found “the” diagram in the very last page of the original CT1 manual.
This image is hidden for guests.
Yes, the brown/white wire and brown (common) wire go into flasher relay (under the tank right by the pink and brown (common) wire for the horn)! I find it odd that there are two sets of two of these brown commons here.
I went with an LED flasher relay only to power my rear LED brake/tail/signal light. At the rear I have a light green and light brown signal wires instead of dark green and brown and I guess this was somewhat of a norm.
i will connect the male / female bullet connectors in the headlight bucket and give it a go. Please see pics and let me know of those connect? Please and thanks!
Also, what’s the green w/ yellow stripe wire in the headlight bucket for? He’s the only one without a mate. And why are there two reds wires at the taillight bunch? One is hot 6.52V the other cold, both red. See pics.
