Interesting reading this.
I have Pirellis on my DT 250 and they are deadly in the wet. I think they're too hard on the side walls as they're more or less an old tech trials tire.
The Shinkos on my HT 1 are stable and steering feels good. Think i might try the wider tyre on my DT 3 and see what the stabilities like.

I just bought a Shinko 3.50 - 19 for my 71 DT1 and it's a tight fit between the forks but easy to adjust.  I run a hi fender...so no worries there.   But the little tire nipples are close/hitting on the RH side fork.
