I'd just like to point out after DEET's explanation that it goes to show you the value of the forum and the gestures by certain members when they offer to send you something for free, or for postage alone. Like MarkT does often, or goes out of his way to make a part work (Literally) like DEET did for my 74 DT175 oil pump, or the "founding father" of the site who works tirelessly to patch up the site when things go amiss, or says, "send me your carb, and I'll get it to work," as several have, or just how much all the advice is worth, though it may not come as instaneously as some might like.
Just sayin'

If you are going to restore a bike to original condition, then it is probably worth the BIG expense of doing it.
You might put $5,000 to $15,000 into a top restoration.
If you just want to get something running, put a license tag on it and have fun, you probably don't want to spend a lot of money on a bike that you would consider abandoning if it broke down.
You could adapt a universal dimmer/horn switch fairly easily and cheaply.
A 1970 RT1 is NOT cheap to restore.

That looks pretty nice in the pictures. You said it would need to be rebuilt. It doesn't seem like there is to much to it, are you talking about just rewiring it? Or are the switches not working? And, the big question, would you sell it and for how much? Thanks

I agree Mothersbaugh, I'm new but so far the forum has been invaluable to me. The wisdom and experience I hear here has been great.

Wow!! DEET, that is a beautiful bike. I got mine from the original owner who had it all these years and only had 3600 miles on it. It is mostly all there and although he did keep it in the garage, it is a little crusty in places. I do want to drive and enjoy this bike so I don't want to go crazy now with a full restoration, but I will not abandon it and it is such a good base bike to start with, I will do a full restoration on it at some point.
Thanks for all your insight and I will probably be taping into your knowledge from time to time as I'm trying to get my 19 year old interested in these old enduro's.
