Got another bike! was created by BajaBronco
A neighbor buys motorcycle collections and mostly old Honda 50/90/70 stuff. He texted me that he got an RT and would I be interested?? I decided to walk over just for fun and see it. I got there and checked the numbers and decided to buy it because they matched and DIDNT match the tank on it. Missing lots and stuck, but hey, when they are literally down the street, it's hard to say no.

Looks like a 1970 RT1M (motocross) model by the VIN... newer tank as you said though.

yeah, a friend had a 71 RT-1M years back and I remember how I thought it was a pretty neat bike. He sold it, but I remembered it had a separate VIN sequence from the normal RT-1 models, and when I read this ones VIN I got a little excited and decided to buy it. I'm sure I'll never find the pieces I need for it, but it would be good to make it as original as I can and get it running,.

You got a pretty rare bike in your stable. glad to see these coming out of obscurity.
Mine came out of a junkyard in Texas originally and I have done some resto work.

Thanks Dave, I'm super excited even though my wife is not!! Trying to decide what all to do to it- trying to soak piston right now and see if I can get it unstuck.
I should have paid better attention to my friend's '71 and all the little details. I'm seeing stuff on this 70 model that I'm wonder if is original - stuff like a cool little plastic plug with a metal retainer on the hole where a speedo would go, and a rubber plug for one of the rear fender holes.
Going to pull the carb as I got the slide to let go yesterday afternoon - I think should be a 34mm with a 310 jet. How do we ID that?
Really want to get a badge tank back on it and preferably a black/yellow orig. Asking alot I know.....

Mounting flange on carb should have some numbers stamped in it that correspond to RT1M model code.

284 is the model code for the 70 RT1M
E1 is the jetting revision... not sure if I have a list on that... some years/models have changes during the year but most don't.

I'm still Stuck here.... Other than soaking the piston via thru the spark plug hole, what else can I do to try and unstick the motor? I dont want to damage any RT-1M head or related parts. I'm using PB Blaster.
