I hope this reaches everyone who has helped so far with my turn signals. I finally have them working. I wish I had a perfect answer but I some how found a wire that had 5 volt to 0 volts. Bingo that was it. So much for color coding. I am guessing some body had been in there messing around before I got it. thanks again Jim

I still have no idea what the wire was for that caused all the voltage jumping. I appreciate your help. thanks

Oh bugger. Wonder if you've grounded out the kill switch wire in the loom. There'd be a black with thin white tracer which "i'm guessing" you mightve poked into a black so permanently killed. Unhook the kill switch wires. Can also unplug the main switch multi plug as the cdi ignition is live all the time so only dead when kill or main switch shorts black/white to earth. Do you think you're blinker earth wires got involved somehow killing ignition. I'm guessing a bit just from general knowledge of yamaha wire colors from & now i'm waffling on & getting lost.

ok where is the main switch for the CDI? My guess is I probably did something stupid as unusual .I will look for the black wire with the white stripe. So all the wire I need to look at are in the headlight? thanks

First, I would like to know the color of the 2 wires you swapped previously. This could be related.
Note, if the key switch is in the OFF position or Right handlebar switch is set to OFF, then CDI ground kill monitor is set. no spark. Easiest way to test is at point in headlight bucket where the 2 black/white wires are connected. check if that point is grounded. If it is, guaranteed no spark. if ground detect, disconnect and test both circuits, one back to switch on handlebar and one going to main harness. If the one going to main harness is grounded, no spark will occur. if the R switch is grounded, maybe corrosion or something else going on there.
A BLACK/WHITE wire runs from R handle bar switch to the headlight bucket. In the bucket, this connection should be to another BLACK/WHITE wire that goes to the main harness back to the CDI. *see page 139 service manual
As RT325 has stated, it appears you may have activated the kill circuit. Don't forget many people have problems w/this bike's ignition and they fail too. Your system may have failed, but I say probably not since you recently worked on it.
If your black/white is not grounded, time to check ignition components, coil, pulser, spark plug..
Page 138-140 of service manual has ohm testing values. For example, 90 Ohms +/- 10% for Pulser coil I believe.

Sorry just meant unplug ignition switch #5 in the link then it would run under normal circumstances. Just saying that because the switch grounds it out to stop spark.
www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcy...74/dt360a/electrical.
Also unplug the kill switch wire black & black/white "i think it should be" which will come from the throttle control.
That should have it sparking considering it was before the flasher problems got in the way.
I might be wrong & there's probably more incorrect plugging of colors that could stop it but would need to relate to the black/white being earthed. I'm wondering off again but happy to be corrected by those familiar with this model.
