Once you've removed the headlight bowl and untangled the wiring, post a few more photos.

I tend to avoid removing the wires from the headlight bucket unless absolutely necessary.
It seems I usually end up with just as big a rat's nest when I put the wires back into the bucket.

Others are much better at that than I am... I'm happy when I can get the headlight to fit again.
Anyway, pics should help a lot once you figure them out.

Yep, ya need to trace that wire to its destination. I'd best not guess but OK i'll guess-- is it coming from the flasher switch & switch is turn to right or left, right for green by memory. Would be DC live when ignition is on. Can't imagine a genuine Yamaha flasher switch having a banded wire as always use full color wires from the flasher switch, or am I wrong,?

I'm sticking with removing the headlight bucket, untangling the wires and doing a dummy run reassembly, but maybe that's just me.

It really is so much easier to get a clear view of all wires, where they're coming from and, if necessary, carry out any repairs.
Regarding the black with 6v, this could be someone's previous 'fix' and the wire should, in fact, be a different colour. However, photos are essential here in order to see the whole picture.
