got my latest parts order in for October. Finally it will have fenders or at the very least the rear fender. I also need to get the Crystal silver paint needed to repaint the fenders, headlight bucket and ears. then get the Competition Yellow paint for the oil and fuel tank and of course the decals.

here is a run down on the parts. new fuel valve as I will soon return the original tank to service.

this tool so I can finish the exhaust work.

rear fender to be used. I hope it shows up here but if not I will post new pics of it.

new clutch cover gasket. I did not wind the kick start spring as tightly as someone did in the past. I plan to remove the clutch cover not only to check the crankshaft gear nut but to work on the kick start some more.

finally some much needed grips.

some rear fender hardware I need. to gather these parts new could also be done but they would be a little different than original and the price would had been about the same. this is something to replace what was missing.

some insulators for the instruments. sorry KDI as this was what I could afford at the time and it looks like you got a competitor. if I could had squeezed it in,I would had went for the KDI ones. I did order their intake air cleaner boot for my 1971 RT1B and I was impressed with the quality.

some clips for the instruments. this and the insulators is for my other DT400 I am putting back together.

last but not least some Yamalube 2S.

the decals. I have used Yamatopdog graphics on my 1978 DT175E with good results and this DT400B will also get some. so glad even the smallest details are available for a restoration!

the paint used is Sunshine Red by RS paints. I would use them again but they are based in the UK and shipping was sky high. great products though!

I still have a lot to do. things like getting a air cleaner case ready but I am hesitant to cut one up to use with the pod filter.

I plan on having Rich mod a Webco head and mod the 38 mm carb. I am not wanting to risk loosing power so for now the 38 mm carb stays.

if I get the notion to engineer a air cleaner case and the materials to construct a box for it. a easy way out is using a 34 mm carb and then I could use the factory air cleaner and boot.

of course getting the turn signals and the brake and tail light bracket and the other parts to fit it.

I plan on getting another pair of wheels for it then mount some Dunlop D606 tires. then there is the sleeper pipe. there is still much to go over.

I think after this latest batch of parts then I will need to go after the paints themselves and all the other paint supplies to go with it.

might have the bike finished by spring or early summer if the Lord permits.

I need to do more work to the 1971 RT1B and get that other 1968 DT1 project going then the 1970 DT1 and somewhere in there get the 1971 Z50 project going.

much to do indeed!

now to repair the petcock. the reserve function on the fuel tap was not working. I used Marvel Mystery oil to soften up the junk and blew it out with a rubber tipped air gun.

On those cracks in the fender.Drill a small hole at the end of the crack before you solder them to stop them from growing any longer.
