The 76 DT400C was a six volt bike. Unless you've converted it to twelve volts by replacing bulbs, regulator, etc., a 12 volt battery would probably blow your bulbs.

I'm contemplating doing this to my 76 DT400C, I'd be interested in hearing your results with their kit and where you found a battery. Thanks Tony

No problem! I should have mentioned it has the exact same dimensions as the stock 6v battery.

I sort of stumbled across this thread and bought 2 batteries to give it a shot. The batteries arrived today and are a tad to large for my DT400. Granted, I gave it barely a try but I'm thinking its going to require some modifying in order to fit in the same area as that 6v.

I'll take a closer look this weekend.

I have some 12v batteries from batterymart.com that should work for various 12v setups AFAIK.

I bought them all to fit in my 75 DT175, but stayed 6v and need to RMA these things.

They don't use bullet connectors so you have to fudge connections, but seem OK otherwise.

There is a 3rd battery that is too big for my 175 but I think the later ones had more room..

www.batterymart.com/p-sla-1039-12-volt-2...ad-acid-battery.html

This one might be too big. It was too big for my 175: www.batterymart.com/p-12v-5ah-sealed-lead-acid-battery.html

I made bullet adapter wires but cutting the Red/Black wires off of a dead old battery, and crimping the F1 connectors to the ends.

You just need to make sure you put some cover (a rubber slip boot like what's on them), or something over the connection points!

It was pretty cool because you don't mess up the original wires, and you can just pop them right on the new batteries.

If you want to give them a shot too PM me and we can work something out before I send them back!

They're unused.

I have a trickle charger too. Used for about an hour! :)

Interesting timing, since I didn't send them back yet because it snowed and I was too lazy to go get a box at the post office!

The amp hours are lower than the flooded battery types, but if the system is charging it, to my knowledge this shouldn't really matter.
