I love Taryl Dactyl vids.  When I was off work with pneumonia and several broken ribs earlier in the year and basically unable to move a muscle, Taryl kept me entertained and sane.

A new vid about a spark plug machine.  If you wanted to know what happens inside a fouled plug and how it can clear itself, this is an interesting vid.

Fascinating! There should be many old torpedo heaters up here to scavenge parts from

Love it!

That neon transformer puts out 30ma... I wonder how many amps a torpedo heater transformer generates?  The high voltage allows the electricity to jump the gap...  the amps is what would create the heat.

On a torpedo heater I would think they'd want high voltage and LOW amps to make the igniter electrodes last as long as possible?

So that could be a difference...  even though that neon transformer has less voltage, since Volts x Amps = Power, the torpedo heater transformer likely has far less current in the spark = less power and probably wouldn't "clean" the plug as well as the neon unit?

Neon transformers with 30ma output and 10,000 volts or more are available for less than $40 on Amazon for any "mad scientists" out there...  just keep in mind getting zapped by one could be deadly due to the higher amperage...  30ma is enough current to trigger the "can't let go" muscle contractions and could be deadly.

I'll watch Taryl Dactyl's video later so what i'm saying might be irrelevant, but on the plug tester at work i'd screw the plug into the fitting that pressurised it from the compressor, maybe 120 psi max.
Was interesting looking in the window as could see it short down to earth at the base.
Give it a sandblast & pick the grit out to the base & good for another turn.

Very interesting! i always got a kick out of taryl's videos on YouTube! there must be quite a few amps being pushed through there to boot and there is enough amps there to kill you if you got hit by it!
