About done for today.

I just finished new front fork seals, clean and reassembled the forks (will add oil tomorrow when I have better light.

So now it’s basically detail the motor, install the swing arm and forks, figure out the re-pop Taiwan wiring harness (it appears correct and decent though not DEET!), new cables, controls and decide what gauges to go with!

Probably going to be a rider by next weekend if not completely finished.

This will be a record build time for me!

Finally getting to the fun part!

It’s now a roller.

Lots of new nuts & bolts, some fresh grommets, large bucket of elbow grease. New Tusk Aluminum bars.

Who knew that Amazon would have the best price on a fresh new sprocket!

The motor still in detail stage, fenders getting fresh paint. It could be a rider this weekend, though I’ll probably wait and do all the street wiring while it’s opened up!

Stayed up late last night, locating bits and pieces and formulating on last dealer order.

Definitely making progress. It has fenders, a kickstand, and today if things go well, possibly even a motor. Be awhile for a ride still, as I need to figure out the full wiring stuff.

NLA footpeg return springs MIA. What to do?

Well the peg itself is the same as the DT400B though the mount is different. Problem is they don’t make those springs either.

I stumbled across a set of UK repops for my various DT400 projects and decided to see . . .

These are not an exact fit, but work, and fit pretty well. I could probably massage for a better fit but the seem good.

Gonna have to replenish my inventory!!

On my repainted OEM throttle housing, the screw that holds the kill switch on was rusted bad. It’s a tiny bigger and not even listed on the parts diagrams. I found a solution at Hole Depot:

A #4 screw is correct in diameter, but these were a bit long. So I cut one down to length, and Voila!

I carefully masked the label before painting - turned out pretty good. For comparison, here is the other side Chinese re pop:

Now I just need some more in-committed free time . . .

Super busy weekend so not much progress. Carb didn’t need a soak, so just a quick carb cleaning rinse, then something I learned this year from Lee Fabry - Eagle Mag Cleaner on the carb.

It has some acidic content you can smell. Sit maybe 15 min after spraying. Then another carb spray rinse, and it’s looking back fresh.
