Did you see my previous question about checking that you used oil suitable for a wet clutch (and apologies if you've already checked and answered this!)?

Response to questions: We're going to have someone with experience take it for a spin and get their thoughts. I'll report back.

I'm wondering about the adjustment too...  doing the adjustment correctly seems to be hard for some reason.  It could just be the plates are toast though.

My '71 CT1 only had around 360 miles on it when I began working on it. The clutch was stuck, and was slipping fairly badly after getting it unstuck. I ordered new friction discs, and even with only 360 miles, the old disks did measure under spec. I ordered aftermarket discs that only cost around $14 shipped, but next time I would get Yamaha discs. These slip a bit when cold, but after warming up are fine. I'd also rough up the steel discs with sandpaper next time. I did remove the rubber damper rings, as many here suggest. It's not a hard job, but like most, is harder the first time.

It's impossible to know if someone has been into the clutch...  in any case it's prudent to TAKE PICTURES as you disassemble.  The exploded parts diagrams are not reliable assembly diagrams.  Many clutches have been assembled incorrectly.  If you post the pictures, someone here can tell you if it was assembled correctly.

P.S.  I leave the rubber rings out as well. I've had them cause issues with slipping.  I've never had a problem caused by leaving them out.

Life's been a bit crazy as of late, so haven't been able to post. Anyway, we had an experienced rider take it for a spin. It ran great! He had no problems shifting and accelerating.  The only issue he mentioned was a tight throttle (not sure what that means...any ideas?). Good to know the clutch might be ok...just rider inexperience

. My daughter has been practicing this past week...learning how to shift the gears.

I think the one maintenance item we've yet to tackle is to confirm the oil pump is functioning correctly. I've found a few YouTube videos...but any other tips?

My CT-1 throttle was sticking a bit, and it turned out the end of the handlebar was rubbing the grip. I just moved it outboard a bit, and that freed it up.

This has been a very interesting read as I am currently working on the exact same bike that I bought at a farm sale in Colorado last spring. Mine has about 2800 miles but is not nearly as pristine. Right now my issue is that the oil line from the pump to the carb was very brittle outside the pump housing and broke removing it from the carb. my question is, how do you remove the oil line from the oil pump, and replace it with new?
