Don't forget the points gap--15 thou just nipping on the feeler blade. Eyeball that before pulling the flywheel & if the key is all ok then please fully tighten the nut as they're hard on keys otherwise. Hope you have a proper puller 27x1mm pitch left hand thread. Sorry if this has all been covered, just thought i'd add it incase without reading back tonight.

RT325, my memory is slipping but I think this might be the bike that wouldn't start until the plug gap was narrowed way down.  Also had a BR plug and presumably a resistor cap.  Not sure if that was corrected. There were other signs of possibly weak ignition.  Videos posted are of idling but not of the bad running it supposedly does when revved up.  However, comment was made on another thread that this bike sounds the same and that bike sounded like a bad CDI to me.

This bike obviously doesn't have a CDI, but as you know a bad condenser can create a bad misfire even if it starts okay.  I don't recall if condenser was changed or the condition of the points and the condenser question I asked a few posts back wasn't answered.

Long winded way to say I agree it might be ignition related?

Tried a locally sourced key.
still coughs and spits. Could the timing have gotten messed up?

Condenser and points were new this spring. I haven't tested lately.

I wonder from the photo if your blue wire or points wire is shorted out looks awful close plus the timing needs to be checked with the new key installed

Ok, was the key broken or just halfway. Did you sit it back together just for the pic. Definitely ignition misfire now so have you set the points gap to a reasonable gap when open. Look in the dark in at the flywheel when running & tell us what shows. Looks like the ignition source has a wipe across some windings which might be a clue but even more clue-ee is the wire to the points to condenser has rubbed through on the side so could be arcing to the flywheel when running. Over to MarkT--whatda ya recon? Think i've missed a few comments, catchup time.

Also is the solder from your condenser touching the outer part of your condenser I don’t think it would start if it was but who knows maybe?
