I can't see how much it was protruding but as long as it's not protruding out into the "well" in the bottom of the float bowl it should be fine. 

If it did protrude it could have restricted the fuel from entering the jet setter/needle jet (the brass part with the o-ring on it that seals into the well in the float bowl) and that would have caused bogging.

i can understand how that would happen. i thought the screw didnt look like an original part .i will put it all back together and try running it again ,ill let you know what happens. thanks to all for the help. Jez....

Maybe its me but the jet ya holding with pliers is the pilot jet not main jet, screwdriver type not hex. Maybe i'm missing a pic.
