Need Help With Carburetor was created by Fewmarshall

Hey guys, so as you can see... the old carb off my GT80 is in PERFECT condition so I figured I'd start looking for a new one ;)

I was wondering if anyone knows a proper replacement for it? I've been looking online and found 18mm Mikunis that look very similar but I don't know what the jet sizes are supposed to be, and maybe dumb question but does it matter if the fuel inlet on the carb is in a slightly different position?

Thanks in advance for the help guys :Excited

I wouldn't give up on it yet.

Others will chime in with what they use to clean the body. The jets, seals and gaskets can still be bought new.

I had a carb for a DT1 that was way worse than that and I did the boil it in lemon juice thing and it came out looking like new! I did it on the side burner on my barbeque outside because boiling lemon juice does not smell lemony fresh!

being that you are new this will help you many times. Click on the SEARCH FORUM button and enter key words that you are searching such as " carb cleaning solutions" or "dirty carb" and you can see other threads pertaining to that subject. Hope that helps.

Try to by all means to save the original carb. As stated earlier you can find misc jets and things you will need to replace but save that CARB BODY if possible

This body is pitted and has flaked of the metal coming out - The mount to hold the pin for the float is cracked. I've searched around a lot but can't seem to find any answers on a replacement. Would finding one used be the only option?

Do your best to clean it and see where you are at that point. OEM carbs for a GT80 appear once in awhile on ebay but will go quick

I'm in the camp that it should be repairable and that would be the BEST solution.

If you can't or don't want to deal with it, I would contact Treatland Moped parts in San Francisco. They have a lot of parts for the smaller bikes and a lot of knowledge. They might even know exactly what new carb might fit or could measure what they have and find something that will fit. (they have a lot of new small carbs for sale)

Keep in mind that if you do change the carb you might have to deal with a lot of things like a custom throttle cable, jetting, getting air filter to work, etc. It's almost always a lot less time and effort to use the orignal if at all possible.

Welcome and good luck!
