Maybe i should refraze my question.
My 69 DT1 has painted cases and they differ from your pictured case.
Firstly mine have been painted and gloss lacquerd, the colour looks pretty close.
Did you refinish the case pictured or is it NOS?
If you did, what's the colour and did you matt laquer them.

No the center cases were very clean. I just polished them when I had them apart. The covers I blasted and painted and cleared with high temp satin, pretty close to the original but then again they had yellowed due to age. In my blast cabinet I use a stainless steel cut wire which gives me a good finish. I have two grades of cut SS wire I use. If the cases, heads, cylinders are oxidized I use the course first then go over it again with the conditioned wire which peens the surface. If I want a little more polished surface I use 0000 steel wool and dawn soap as a lubricant to polish further. Here are a set of Z1 cases done in this way. It is pretty close to Vapor Honing.
And the DT1 cylinder and head

Interesting I’ve never heard of SS wire for a blasting cabinet but I have heard of SS media for a Tumbler I haven’t used my Tumbler in years I bought a Vapor blaster a couple of months ago yes the technical name is honing. Great job oh what silver paint did you use on your clutch case

I used Duplicator caliper paint with ceramic and VHT high temp satin on the covers. The satin darkened them a bit which was closer to the original
