dial indicator was created by wolfhound87

Would anyone on here recommend a dial indicator for my 75 dt 250. Had this bike about a year but could never get spark and stopped when i saw what a electronic ignition costs. Ive decided to go ahead and buy one and get this bike going. Seems i need a dial indicator to get the timing right ive looked on ebay and the ones that are affordable for me dont seem to have the piece you screw into the jug.Ive asked everyone i know that does mechanic work and they dont have one to borrow so im going to have to buy myself one but dont want to buy the wrong thing any help would be appreciated.

I bought one off eBay. Tried to post a link but it won’t let me…….
It is eBay item number 144315831083
Or simply search eBay for Yamaha dial indicator and a couple should pop up in the $50 to $60 dollar range.

I would be interested in buying your stock ignition parts if you have now switched over to an electronic ignition. I am in Michigan.

I took the ignition parts to a guy that repairs electric motors to see if it could be rewound. He said he couldnt fix it.Ive looked for 7 months for the part to just keep the points system but havent found anything. Everyone local around me that works or used to work on bikes says to basically junk the whole bike and part it out to get my money back out of it. Saying they wasnt much when they were new and hard to find parts cause its so old. Im in to deep to give up on it and going to continue on

Don’t get discouraged.  Bought the same bike knowing it had no spark, but was in really good shape.  I ended up having to buy a second one that was a mess, but it started right up. So I simply started swapping ignition parts. It had a bad coil AND a bad ignition switch. Trouble shooting gets tricky when it ends up having 2 things wrong with it. Here is a past link on mine. It is post #380.

Another way to post photos is to make a movie of them and post it to YouTube. Then you attach the YouTube link like I have done with this sample link below.
