Never felt a need to torque down taper roller steering bearings myself, but I suppose getting one of those sockets and simply torquing the head bearings down, to a specified figure, is far easier than spending maybe 20 minutes getting the adjustment spot on by feel?

If using a special hooked spanner, it's important to note the orientation of the torque wrench or the actual torque will be higher than the torque wrench setting... the adapter must be 90 degrees to the torque wrench as shown in Yamaha photo.

Talking castellated nuts, i'd replaced the kingpins & bushes whatever on my "55 Vauxhall & didn't put a splitpin in the right side one, & the front end "fell off" haha. Trailer load of bikes late at night 100 miles from home. Was fun--NOT.
