Some clean up without disassembling. The quality of these photos turn to crap when I attach them.

Pretty sure Jerry (deceased owner) not only took good care of this bike, but I think he recently did the top end. His mother said that when Jerry knew he was dying, he asked that they do NOT give his bike to his nephews! She said he would be glad it was going to someone who will appreciate it.

Nice. You need to add this to your bike list.

My list already had a DT360A, but this one is way nicer.
The Z50 is a 74. Not a hardtail.

That is a sharp 360, I have the same with the same exhaust. I do have the original exhaust. I have had my bike since 1974. Congrats

I confirmed the new top end when I swapped it back to a stock exhaust. These photos up the exhaust hole show a carbon less piston and a cross hatched bore.
Since the trip meter was reading only 2 miles, I am going to assume that may be the first 2 miles on this bore, so I will treat it as a break-in situation when I do fire it up.

Nice! What an amazing find!
I'd consider bringing piston to TDC and adding a teaspoon or two of oil through spark plug hole.... and/or adding a bit of oil into fuel line before turning on petcock. or running on premix might not be a bad idea to start.

Thanks! The more I clean and the more I dig in, the better it gets. There can’t be many left in this condition. And yes. Premix is the plan. Lots of smoke!
Stock exhaust is on and looks better on this bike than on my off-road version.
