hi all, i have a 75 DT250 and generally wiring ok but there is a resistor mounted between forks under front headlights with a black wire and a yellow and black stripe wire, cannot see anywhere in headlight cluster wiring where these are meant to go? any help welcomed,  (sits back and waits for the simple reply to make me look like a right muppet) thanks

Do you have a photo of it? Outside chance that it's an aftermarket voltage regulator, or one from a different marque (no problem either way).

Thanks. Photo. Shows wires and mounting and black and yellow with black stripe wires, they were just pushed in to headlight cluster but no where to connect them in.

By sheer coincidence, I started a related thread a while back and I have attached a link to this.

I am no electrician, so cannot suggest how you might use this item - I would sell it on and buy a 6v regulator (assuming that it's still running 6v electrics).

Chrome exhaust?!

By memory its to do with taking the place of the headlight bulb in one key position with engine running. Some scooters had that so you could whiz along on park lights or something but without headlight running.

Chrome gets damn hot--stick your leg to it. Be careful.
