DT250A crankcase bearings was created by Jcb1994

I'm going through and doing a basic garage rebuild on my engine (74 DT250).

I've got a question about the bearings used in the transmission! Clutch side OE bearing has a metal shield and the output side bearing has a seal. I'm able to find the correct sized/style Koyo bearings locally but they have no shield or seal, they're just open. Is that okay? Also, the seals. I've seen people talk about the little castle nubs on the OE style seals and how they are only there to not completely but the seal up to the bearing. If I were able to find the proper sized normal Viton double lip seal (no castle nubs on top) can I use those as long as I don't cram them all the way flush to the face of the bearing? I know some of you guys like the OE ones with the double spring and teflon but I feel like a modern day Viton seal would do well.
