Agree with all the comments so far. Those CDI units can be a real pain, as parts are largely NLA. Sometimes they can be saved. If yours seems flaky, patience will be required (not something I have in large supply anymore!   ).

I found that one of these will fit into the little battery compartment pretty well. You'll need to make your own ends. Doesn't sound like you need it just yet.
