1975 1975 DT250 Autolube setup was created by mike.shingler

I am helping a friend with a 76 DT250.  The previous owner had disconnected the autolube pump and removed it.  The carburator was also replaced with a larger Mikuni.  The new owner now wants the autolube reinstalled.  My experience is limited to enduros in which the line from the autolube pump connects at the base of the cylinder but the 76 does not connect at this point.  Can someone send me a clear picture of the tubing layout and connection point on a 76 DT250?  My email address is This email address is being protected from spambots. I appreciate the help in advance!

In 1976 Yamaha started injecting the oil into the carb right before the manifold.  Many Mikuni carbs have a blanked off boss in that area.  I drill and tap and install an RC car fuel fitting...  mostly because I have some.  You can get tiny threaded fittings on ebay or use the press-in type from someplace like HVC...  (press in makes me nervous...  afraid if I don't get hole right size it might fall out.)

Actually on the DT250 & DT400 the oil injection line and nipple directly on the carburetor started in 1975, and on the factory original carburetors the oil line nipples are press fit. I agree with MarkT a threaded nipple is more secure, I have heard of lines coming off the nipple and on some occasions the nipple fell out of the carburetor but still had the line attached to it. There are many that have used aftermarket oil lines, I prefer the original Yamaha oil line which is still available at most Yamaha dealers.
