Camphor was created by DT125a

To prevent rust in these tanks during storage, has anyone ever tried a hunk of camphor?

Might try some up me nose to clear the airways--maybe not. Better add petrol tank to the list below if it works. Always good to try new ideas.

Camphor (topical) suggested uses include treating pain, warts, cold sores, hemorrhoids, osteoarthritis, anti-itch, to increase local blood flow, and as a counterirritant. Camphor is an FDA-approved topical antitussive (anti-cough). Camphor is an FDA-approved topical analgesic and anesthetic used to relieve pain.

I've heard of some interesting uses for camphor... never this one... but a Google search confirms.

My Dad was an award-winning glider pilot and the old barographs used a sheet of aluminum wrapped around a drum. The drum would slowly and precisely turn (representing time) while the sharp pointers would record the flight time and altitude by etching a line in the soft aluminum.

I used to help him burn camphor to cover the aluminum sheet with black soot before the flight to make the pointer etching easy to see... pretty cool "old school" tech.

I'm a pharmacist so I've a pretty good idea what its used for in/on people, thanks.

I took the wrapper off a new box of camphor blocks and put it in the cabinet. An hour later i realized i needed to put the block in something air-tite or everything in the cabinet was going to smell like camphor. I looked up storage ideas and came across a couple hits where people would put camphor in their tool box to prevent rust on tools.

I have a couple tanks not doing anything right now but sitting on my bench while I work on the house. I wondered if this wouldn't be a way to keep surface rust from setting in. I don't want to put gas in them just to let them set and the gas get old.

On the other hand all these medicine bottle have desiccants. Maybe I should just collect a bunch of them and put them in the tanks...
