Silencer Question was created by Six Fingered Man

I opened it up to repack and this is what was in my pipe. I'm used so seeing a long tube with holes in it. Looks like I may only have the end?

Can anyone verify what is supposed to be in here?

Depends on what year and model you have? Looks correct for some of the later models.

So how do you pack it?

Just wrap the short tube?

I may roll up and swiss cheese some sheet and make myself a proper silencer incert. It's a bit loud for my environment.

If you look at the parts diagram, they made a longer "new" insert that can still be found. Might be quieter?

Ok, I see what's going on in there. It tapers in and looks like there is a chamber at the end of the taper.

Welp, I have to quiet it down somehow.

Time to think.

I am looking to do the same with my 76 DT175. Please share if you come up with a good idea. And that's all my exhaust has for an end cap.

Should be a fixed spark arrester further down deep in the end there that quietens it but if its been removed or damaged it'll be noisy as hell.
