Plastic Side Cover Renewal was created by Camp3

I've been working on my DT250A refurb while stuck at home, and I've made it to the side covers, mine are the original beat up covers. What do you guys use to get them "nice"? I'm not looking for show quality as I want to ride this bike but I'd still like it to look good. Take a look at the pics....

Thanks Erik

I painted mine, a lot of paint now sticks to plastic. I used plastic paint primer, enough to fill in the scratches, little bit of sanding, then final coat.
Thanks Mark

Yes and them covers are a kings ransom here in the UK so keep a tight hold of them when your out and about.
You can also get clear plastic activator primer.
I have actually just painted a black speedo cable silver and used the activator primer and plastic model paint and it's good .

An alternative, if you're really cheap, is sticker bomb them. "Pro-Reeds!" "Max-Carbs!!!" that sort of thing. If you have the money vinyl sticker printers will make anything to any size you like. I got a custom logo for my exhaust heat shield and it cost £2!

Here's what mine look like after the wet sanding process.
Then use plastic polish. I used Mother's brand
2nd pic not polished yet
It's like a satin finish after polishing

I tried the heating up job on my Fantic trials bike mud guards.
Made them brittle as weeks went on.
They look like they're coming on a treat there.

What about that stuff they use to wrap cars. Wonder if you can buy a small amount.
Thanks Mark

I covered mine with black number background, you can buy it in sheets from any mx catalog. If ever there were a part ripe for reproduction.
