DT360 Wiring Question was created by ldw72120

I've managed to confuse myself again. I've looked at the wiring diagram for the DT360 and identified the wire from the ignition switch, and tagged with an "S" in the photo. The diagram shows this red switch wire connected with a fuse to the battery and continuing on to the lights. I think. :) Could someone give me an easy explanation, or pictures, on how to attach these wires together?
Next question, does the battery have to be installed for the ignition to spark?

The two red harness wires with female connectors plug into the fuse holder. The red harness wire with male connector goes to battery.

No, you do not need a battery for spark. If you start it, leave the lights off or you may blow bulbs without a good battery installed.

I'm missing the fuse holder but the Partszilla diagram shows the fuse holder, part number 22, going directly to the battery instead of connecting the two female connections.

Diagram is wrong. The fuse holder has two males that plug into the two female harness connectors. The longer red with the male connector goes to the battery.

Thank you. I will order the fuse connector. Since you don't have to have a battery to get spark, would these two wires not being connected cause the ignition not to spark or is it just for the lights?

I apologize, "I thought would these two wires not being connected cause the ignition not to spark or is it just for the lights?" was a different question.

Worth pointing out that spark plug power coming off the magneto is its own thing and independent of power for lighting or charging the battery. All the ignition switch or kill switch really does is short out this power to stop you using it. (Which is one of the few downsides of these old bikes: you don't so much "hot wire" them as "un-wire" them!)

Magneto > Timing > Coil > Spark Plug

That's pretty much it! Makes it totally awesome if you're just off-roading and have no need for flashers or brake lights; one wire and you're done :)

No apology needed... wiring can get confusing and responses are not always clear... no harm in asking again. :Buds

Oh, and I understand what you mean by a "different question"... I thought maybe you hadn't seen my first response but I see where you were coming from now... :Buds
