She'll go good & i've done worse & got away with it. Back i the days of my CT1 ride to work bike in desperation [money--had none] i used a kawasaki 175 piston maybe a kdx if they were around then & had a slight step in the skirt base, step up a little but main problem was a boost port round hole up high under the ringland was about 10 or 12mm or bigger. So i tapped the hole with about two turns of thread & made a bung from a cut off bolt or must've died a bolt to a tight thread, screwed in & cut off, filed it up & worked great. Adapted an MX175 pipe to it & about doubled the pony power. WARNING--DONT"T try any of my stupid tricks & i don't think i'd get away with it again. Won't tell ya any more bad ideas--well not today.

Hi Mike /
On the Yamaha XS 650 forum there is a ongoing discussion about using JB weld to alter intake ports.
However reading what’s on here so far I’d say install a CT1 piston as / is and see what results. If nothing else it will be interesting .
Don’t go over backwards when that power and hits !!!!

JB weld will soften in time plus it dont stay wher you put it , LPS molds and stays where you put it and grinds nicely to finish , trust me it what I do for a living .

Trust Rich if he says the epoxy he uses works, it works.

Devcon makes good "aluminum" epoxy that works in intake ports too.... that's what I've used but was years ago... probably better stuff out there now.
