It looks like most of the parts are the same so there's a good chance.

Thank you Mark, they are in much better shape than the ones on the bike I'm restoring for my grandsons and I'm a bit skeptical about buying the inner's that are offered on ebay and sold out of thailand.

I wonder if the GT has the same setup as the JT where only one fork tube has a spring and the other is just a dummy. I thought that was so odd when I restored my JT. I believe I had read somewhere on this forum that Yamaha did that on the JT to keep its cost under $300. The one I bought new in 71 was $299. lol
Edit:
The manual shows right fork oil capacity at 97 and left at 120, so I’m guessing it is a single spring in the GT. So the seized fork is probably the same problem I had on one of my JTs. There is a solid collar at the bottom of the inner fork tube that had cracked in half and jammed it up.

Brand new member here. Im starting the full resto on a '76 MX80 and the fork tubes are shot. Chrome/tubes are pitted to hell. Ive also recently seen these aftermarket tubes being sold out of the far east and was curious if anyone has any experience with them? The price sure is attractive. If I dont see a nice looking set soon, Im going to give these ebay units a try. If I do so, Ill report back!
