Think you said the previous owner removed the charging circuit so i wonder what they did. If the lighting coil is still there you'll have a choice of wires with various outputs with yellow being the highest but that will run the lights although you could tap into it for a high daytime charge--through a rectifier of course then back to the battery. I'm just wondering how he was getting on with the battery & stop light or was he just charging it up at home. I'm in NZ so ever further down under so no hope for me lol.

I need to investigate but I’d would say it’s either the rectifier or stator that’s faulty and I’m hoping the wire loom is still in place
