CT2 signal lights was created by djetmb

I've had lighting issues with my CT2, specifically the signals. I spent an afternoon removing each signal light, checking and cleaning all connections, grounds etc. I went through the harness and checked all the connectors.
The signals illuminate but don't flash with the engine off. They flash normally with the engine running. All the other lights and horn work fine.
The battery is new and fully charged.
I seem to recall that the signal issue was pretty normal for these old 6 volt systems.
Would fitting LED signal light bulbs help? I've read that the new LED bulbs are plug and play with no diodes etc.
I'm sure this has been covered and maybe someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks to all and anyone who can help.

Does the bulb wattage match the flasher relay.
Battery sound good so increase the bulb wattage.
If the relay says 8watt then go to 10watt.
They calculate the indicator light into it too on the dash or tacho so another 1.5 or 3 watts.
Not been given 12 volt bulbs by mistake.

Thanks. The bulbs are 6V but I will double check the wattage.

Yambits have the correct bulbs so may include those in my upcoming order.

How would I find that LED write up?

Djetmb,

I just tried this kit on a 1983 XT200 the other day and it works great. Those early XT bikes have weak 6 volt set ups like the older Yamaha 2 stroke Enduros. 40 plus years takes it toll i guess even when all looks new.

Looks like LEDs are the way to go. I'll try your kit.

Many thanks.

You may only need to get a new negative ground 2 pin flasher relay and make sure your turn signals have 6v 21cp bulbs in them. Could be you just have a worn out or corroded stock flasher.

I get them from amazon for about $13.00.
