Is it the Boyseen reeds was created by mpritch41

I have a 1972 Yamaha CT 2 that I race cross country. 4 years ago, I had a season where the bike would die in the middle of the race. My only modification was putting in Boyseen reeds.
I raced today and after a hard 45 min. Ride, it just died. Has spark, no vaccum on tank and I pulled the gas line off and it had free flow.
We, I had put the Boyseen reeds back in a few months ago.
Anyone have any experience or idea about what is happening or how to fix this other than to put the old metal reeds back in?
Thanks

That's a thought, I failed to mention it cranked after a few minutes.
plug color was perfect and it was running top to bottom absolutely clean.
  Thanks

That's quite a coincidence.

I'm not a fan of Boyesen reeds for top end power but I don't know how they would cause an intermittent engine shut down.

Well...pulled the old one out ...looked great.
put new one in...went 50 feet and it died.
Did crank after a few min.

My guess is either a coil or condenser have had it happen to me turns out it was the condenser.

I run Boyesen reeds in most of my bikes, and have never had an issue like you describe (or any issue for that matter.
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

Be the stator source coil faulty. I'm guessing its the plug secondary coil you replaced that made no difference. How does the source coil 'look'--not damaged? or come loose in the windings on its post. Of course i could be wrong--again.
