How to remove a stuck silencer on a CT3 was created by Bartman512
Just got this bike running and it's louder than my DT2! Was thinking the old pipe needs a repack, so I removed the one screw holding the pipe outlet and the outlet came right out but how do you remove the silencer from inside the pipe?

The screw holds the silencer and pipe outlet in.
If you take out the screw you need to rotate the pipe outlet as it has a couple of small lugs in the stem locating it in the baffle.
If the baffle is stuck like mine was, you can prise it through the screw hole then I used the grips on the few milimetres sticking out the end of the exhaust.
If it doesn't come out you can re-insert the outlet and use that to try and pull it out but be careful not to damage it.
There's no packing on a CT3 as far as I know.
If it's loud maybe someone has modified the baffle.

I had a similar problem with my DT1 .
I cut the head off a 6mm screw , hacksawed a slot into one end , screwed it into
the outlet pipe ( in place ) , recessed just far enough to clear the exhaust , but proud
of the silencer . That enabled me to twist the outlet and silencer together , and work it free .
My DT1 had an open outlet , with a bar across , which was handy for twisting with pliers .
The CT3 outlet is partially covered I think , so twisting the outlet and silencer may not be so
easy in your case .

Might have to heat the end section of the exhaust almost red hot to loosen the carbon. Probably shake it out then.

I made a puller from one of those closet rod brackets. Flattened the end and made a notch about half inch from the end on both sides of the flattened end. It enters the part of the silencer that looks like a gas tank fill neck. Rotate so the notches grab the inside then hammer on the part of the bracket that would have screwed to the wall. Works like a charm. I’ll try to attach a photo later today.

Got mine out by performing a baffle-endectomy.
Not recommended if you actually want to reuse the muffler which in this case was junk.

Hi, I've probably got the forum etiquette all wrong here, so advance newbie apologies but.... been trawling this and other similar threads and still not sure what's what, so before I do any damage, does the thing in the exhaust pic come out? The manual and thread suggests there is a screw to remove but nothing on this one. Tried to move it with grips on the bar and nothing, so thought I'd take some heat to it and try again.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
