Aftermarket Stator/flywheel kits was created by edelweiss
Anyone know any places where they might make a aftermarket stator/flywheel for a '74 DT250?
Thank you,
John

I’ve just purchased one for my 400 from Rexs Autoshop, excellent quality and very easy to fit, trouble free spark from now one.

www.rexs-speedshop.com/ There is also Vape/Powerdynamo.
www.powerdynamo.biz/eng/products.htm
each has it's pros and cons, for example The vape kit comes with a new flywheel and offers 180 watts while the Speedshop version uses your old flywheel and offers 45 watts to power the headlight. the vape kit comes with a flywheel but there may be a little vibration because the flywheel is not balanced with your crankshaft but the vibration is tolerable, it won't make your hands numb or anything.

Rex also offers another Stator only kit that uses your old flywheel if it is stamped foto 1971.

My VAPE (Powerdynamo) kits have run smooth as glass... electric motor smooth.
In fact lack of vibration is one of the things Dave Meis commented on when riding my first DT175 with the Powerdynamo... and that engine likes to rev to 10,000+ RPM with the porting it has.

On my 400, it vibrates a little. my stock 400 is smoother than my modified DT400. of course I never rode the bike completely stock as the ignition on it had a broken pulsar and stuck piston rings. this is also the engine that has very little intake side piston skirt with the MX400B top end.

Very interesting tread.
I want to purchase a Vape/Powerdynamo for my ´75 DT250 , soon. Main reason fot this decision are the vibrations around 4500rpm, which i had with the previus crancshaft more intense, with the recent cranckshaft still there at same rpm. So i think, it´s the flywheel, Some hammer marks are on it and dial gauge shows on flywheel 2/10th mm non circular (within specs or damaged?)
A motorcycle specialist told me to pull the Flywheel, install a dial gauge behind the konus on the cranc and measure the roundness . Should not be more then 2/100th mm.
Didn´t measure , yet.
