My mongrel of a CT1 appears to have even more bloodlines in it!

On a previous thread I raised questions over unused double terminals on wires from the stator assembly, together with a lack of charging.

Anyway, I picked up a new lighting coil and gave this, with the bike, to my mechanic to fit (I know my limitations!). Being a bit of a stickler for fitting the correct parts, I was a little surprised when my mechanic rang yesterday and told me that the coil was the "wrong" part - too long.

I got him to send photos of the existing rotor and stator and it would appear that I have the correct rotor (F130), but a CT2/3 stator (F136). Would this combination in itself lead to my non charging issues, or are they compatible and I have a damaged part that needs investigating?

Obviously my part was right after all, just not right for my wrong stator!

Thanks.

The CT1 stator has two coils (4 poles), the CT2/3 has 3 (6 poles).  If I remember correctly, the CT1 flywheel has 4 magnets and the CT2/3 has 6.  The magnets line up with the poles of the stator coils.

As far as I know, you must use the correct flywheel that matches the stator.

Replied by Gr8uncleal on topic CT1 vs CT2/3 stator/rotor parts compatibility.

Thanks Mark.

To this layman, that would explain my non charging issue.

I have found a CT1 stator here in the UK. I might have to replace the source coil, but that will leave me with the correct plate, two new coils (one of each) plus a CT2/3 stator to sell on.
