RT1 360 UK project was created by Tinker man
Hi all,
hopefully this is posted in the right place. I posted a few times to inform the group that I was getting 3 bikes, AS1,HS1 and this RT.
the RT needs most work. Lots missing and wrong. Unsure really where to start but I “think” I will try to make a bike to use and get as many parts that are period as possible whilst looking out for the right bits at the same time. If that makes sense. The bike is matching numbers RT1 - 02180 and should be black and yellow according to the UK reg document.
as can be seen from the photos attached some effort already gone into with the frame wheels suspension but I believe the tank to be wrong. Anyone know what it is off? It’s important as the seat is a home made wooden affair, with the hinge brackets screwed on. I want to put a correct seat on which I think can be bought new but will it fit with this incorrect tank? If not what seat could I fit? Open to ideas and thoughts on this please.
also the rear mudguard has been fitted in the wrong place on the frame too I think. Not sure why? Is the mudguard correct? Seems someone has welded a piece to the frame to mount it like this…. Not sure I like it so would probably put back to standard.
lots else missing including air box, chain guard, switches, bash plate, oil tank and lots more besides. I can only think to use eBay but shipping from the states is so expensive on eBay.
so many questions but will try to stick to the topic of tank, seat and rear mudguard here….
fingers crossed that you guys can help before I make expensive mistakes…
oh and engine doesn’t run…… yet….. but will one day.
cheers for now

I love taking stuff to bits - putting back together is another thing altogether.

Tank looks like it is from a 1972/3 bike. Probably DT/RT 2/3, but an expert will need sight of the underside, and possibly dimensions, to confirm.
I've got damaged switches that I'm trying to repair, but I'm a ways off a completed one yet.
Rear muddie looks like a generic one.
DK (aka twowheelspares) here in the UK may have a lot of what you need, and they can be haggled on prices. Some parts will be shared with other models. I'm happy for you to ask me any questions on parts before you buy.

That’s very generous of you GR8UNCLEAL.
I have a few bits in mind so will message you directly. Well, I will try.
I realise I probably asked too many questions in my post. I will try to be more concise in the future.
Thanks again, ian
